11/07/06 - Book Signing for Remaining Doors Members, Nov. 8th
An authorized biography entitled, The Doors by the Doors, has recently become available. The book was written by
Rolling Stone magazine editor Ben Fong-Torres. John Densmore recently spoke to Iceberg Radio and said that one thing
that struck him while thumbing through the book was how each of the original Doors members represented something different:
"The multi-cultural ingredients that each of us brought struck me. I mean, we're all white guys, but Ray, you know, with his Chicago youth and the blues and classical music, and then Robby was all hung up on flamenco and folk music, and I was into jazz, and Jim had read every book on the planet --
that's a melting pot. That's America. Look at those ingredients -- and it worked!"
The book has interviews with all three of the remaining members, as well as, family members and people who were close to the band.
Also included are interviews with Jim Morrison and for a real shocker, the book features comments from Morrison's dad, which have
never been published before.
Manzarek, Densmore, and Krieger are set to do a book signing on November 8th at Book Soup, Whisky A Go Go and the Cat Club on the Sunset Strip
in West
Hollywood, where they will also be kicking of a 40th anniversary celebration of the Doors first album. Can you believe it
has already been 40 year?......uuuuhhhhhhh, yes.
