10/30/06 - Nirvana's music to be featured on CSI TV show
Nirvana's songs are set to be featured in episodes of US crime show CSI: Miami. The show is well known for the use of the songs of the Who songs but will now feature four Nirvana tracks. The use of the songs is due to the fact that
Kurt Cobain's widow Courtney Love sold a 25% stake in Nirvana's song catalogue to Primary Wave Music Publishing.
The episode of 'CSI: Miami', that is due to air in November, will feature several Nirvana songs with 'Come As You Are' as the predominant track. According to Forbes, the only condition that Primary Wave set was that the 'CSI: Miami' episode "Not feature any suicide or drug-addiction themes."
Primary Wave chief executive Lawrence Mestel said "You will never see Kurt Cobain's music in a fast food hamburger advertisement - that won't ever happen. "We're looking at things that relate to cutting-edge technologies, products that are green and eco-friendly, products that Kurt would have liked to have his music represented by."
Previously 'All Apologies' had been used in an episode of 'Six Feet Under' and 'Something In The Way' was used in the 2005 film 'Jarhead'.
