Mitzi @ the Movies

UNDER THE SAME MOON
- Mitzi J. Johnson

Hello, again, hello. Welcome to my first edition of MITZI AROUND THE WORLD. I have decided that I would put the spotlight once in awhile on some movie that comes from a country other than the USA. There is a whole world out there and I wanna go and you are gonna go to, whether you like it or not. Soooo, the first country I decided to visit is one that I have been to many times. I think we tend to take this beautiful country for granted 'cuz we are so close. We share a continent. How 'bout that?

This film was recommended to me by my friend, SID, (not his real name). I like SID, so I thought okay, why not, and I thought it would be a wonderful way to begin my new feature of MITZI AROUND THE WORLD!!! You got a very cute little boy named, Carlitos, brilliantly played by ADRIAN ALONSO who crosses the border to search for his Mom. She is in LOS ANGELES working and doesn't know he is coming. It is quite an amazing and sad journey for this little boy who has nothing to go back to and must keep on in spite of some really dangerous and scary circumstances and people. The script is simple and uncomplicated. The actors are all well cast. The little boy is really adorable and talented. He kind of breaks your heart. I love some of the characters he meets along the way. There were also some really "oh, no" moments and I had to take a few deep breaths to calm myself. I did shed a few tears, much to my dismay. I am not one for crying at a movie, but, well, the little boy is really, really cute, what can I say, he got to me. There were a few sappy bits, but I excused them. KATE DEL CASTILLO was very good, too as the mother. Look for AMERICA FERRERA; she is in it for a sec.

Adios,

Senorita Mitzita
