RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
- Mitzi J. Johnson

Greetings one and all! Welcome back to my annual Christmas Special. I am giving out my second Magical Candy Cane award for the best Christmas movies of all times. IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE was number one, of course. It was really tough to try to pick out number two, but I thought and I thought hard and finally made a decision. Before JIMMY STEWART and FRANK CAPRA came into my life there was this show. Year after year my brother and I would get very, very excited when it came on 'cuz it was our fave. I will give a tiny hint: He leads SANTA's SLEIGH:

The main reason that this show gets a MAGICAL CANDY CANE award is that it made my brother and me so happy. We loved this show. You got a TALKING SNOWMAN played by BURL IVES who seems to float over the snow. The sound effects are fab. You got the whole story of RUDOLPH and his rise to fame. You have an amazing journey where RUDOLPH hooks up with an elf and a prospector. They run into an ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN while heading to the ISLAND OF MISFIT TOYS. Does this ring a bell? If not then do not wait another minute and get this ASAP! If you haven't seen it in years then watch it again. I remember I always wanted this show to be longer. I also wanted it to be real. I wanted that world to really exist. I guess it does, you know, because as you watch it you are in that world of talking snowmen in vests and elves that have dreams of being dentists. The star of course is RUDOLPH and I find his story very moving. His lesson is one that we all learn as we grow up. I think Shakespeare put is best. "TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE". Thanks to the geniuses who created this!

Happy Holidaze,

Mitzi
