Okay, I had kinda heard of the band, ANVIL. I am a heavy metal fan and the name sounded very familiar, although I couldn't name one of their songs. However, I was told that I had to go and see this film, that it was remarkable. So, I did. It was remarkable. I don't even know f I have the words to describe the range of emotions I felt. It begins with some very famous rock stars talking 'bout the band and then it goes into "their" story, and what a story.

The two founders of the band met when they were 14 and living in Canada, now some 30 odd years later they are still together and still trying to make it big. The film is set in documentary format, but really almost has a home movie feel to it, as the director seems invisible, which allows the musicians' "truth" to come through the camera. I was incredibly touched by the story and the simplicity in which it was told. I was inspired by their commitment to each other, to their music, to their families and to their dreams. I cried a few times and I also thought they were a bit crazy a few times and I thought too, that" boy 37 years is a long time to keep on keepin' on", but as you watch and as you share a bit of their journey, you witness their transformation into what they have always been, but never realized, and have always wanted to be, Rock Stars.

Sacha Gervasi (BUSH) is behind the camera and got it all together. Apparently, he was a roadie for the band many years ago and really liked them and wanted to know what happened to them, and thus the rockumentary began. I walked out of the movie theatre with a feeling that I knew these beautiful, humble fellows and was grateful to them for allowing me to witness their ascent to fame and I hope fortune. Go see it, now!!!!!!

Ciao,

Mitzi
