Zakk Wylde
Biography

Zack Wylde is an American guitarist who was most known for playing with Ozzy Ozbourne and for founding the band Black Label Society. Zakk Wylde was born on January 14, 1967 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Wylde began playing music as a 14 year old kid while he was working at Silverton Music in Silverton, New Jersey. Wylde has said that during the days of learning guitar he would play as much as 12 hours a day. When Wylde was 19 years old, he sent Ozzy Osbourne a demo tape and, after one audition, landed the role as Ozzy's lead guitarist, replacing Jake E. Lee in 1987.

Zakk is known to play a Gibson Les Paul Guitar, which was known as "The Grail", his Les Paul stood out from others because of its unique paint job. Zakk's guitar had a bullseye painted on it and was lost for some time when it fell from the back of a truck transporting equipment. Wylde offered rewards to anyone who found his guitar and was later reunited with "The Grail" when a fan found it in a Dallas, Tx Pawn Shop. The fan received two other Les Paul guitars in exchange for "The Grail".

Zakk was a faithful guitarist for Ozzy until 1995 when Zakk left the band to begin his band "Black Label Society", however, Zakk returned to Ozzy in 2001.

On January 17, 2006, Zakk Wylde was put on the Hollywood Rock Hall of Fame located at 7425 Sunset Blvd. His area features his hand prints as well as his signature. The event was open for all to see and many rock and roll celebrities were present to see his induction.

Wyldes band, Black Label Society, released their most recent album on September 11, 2006 in the UK and September 12 in the U.S. Black Label Society also headlined 2006 Ozzfest on the second stage. Zakk played double duty with Ozzy that year. Wylde is currently working on a new film called "The Bersekers". Wylde is in charge of the script and production of the movie.

Recently, Ozzy parted ways with Zakk Wylde and hired guitarist Gus G. from the band Firewind. Ozzy's stated that he parted ways with Zakk because everything was beginning to sound like Black Label Society.
