10/20/06 - JAY BENNETT (EX- WILCO) Reminisces About Wilco Departure, After
the Release of his 4th Solo Effort and Begins New Tour
In 2002, after the Wilco release, 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' the film 'I Am Trying To Break Your Heart' documented his departure from the band. Now, over four years and 4 solo records later, Bennwtt says "I needed to go and do what I'm doing now." "It was a mutual decision, and I don't think I can come up with anything better than things had run their course." "He ( Jeff Tweedy- Wilco frontman) needed to be
the leader of a band, and I needed to be the leader of a band, and we realized that before it got superugly."
Bennett began his new tour in support of his September release, 'The Magnificent Defeat' yesterday in Chicago IL, other tour dates are posted below:
