Mitzi @ the Movies

The Departed
- Mitzi J. Johnson

When my brother Drew asked if I could write movie reviews for FIB Music, I was thrilled!! I just love movies. My fave thing to do at the end of the day is make a cup of herbal tea and pop in a DVD. I have NETFLIX…, which has dramatically changed my life. I honestly don't know how I lived before they existed. I never need to leave the house again…well, except to get food. So, I thought for my maiden review I would write about my favorite movie of 2006. Apparently it was a big hit with the rest of the world. It won the Academy Awards for Best Pic and Best Director and I think Best Supporting Actor. I missed the Academy Awards this year. I had a date and well, we weren't watching any TV if you know what I mean. Okay, so back to the review. My date's name btw was Trevor and he is a writer, too not of movie reviews but he writes about sheep. Anyway, I am getting a little sidetracked. So, a lot of awards, a lot of men!!! And a lot of blood, can you guess the film??

THE DEPARTED

Rated R
2006
Length: 151 minutes

Director: Martin Scorsese
Cast: All the sexiest men in Hollywood except Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Jake Gyllenhaal, Denzel and Daniel Craig.

Genre: Drama, Crime Drama

So, what do you get when you put Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and Alec Baldwin in a movie directed by Martin Scorsese?? A fab, delicious, bloody, thrilling macho extravaganza!! I loved every minute of it. I loved it a second time. And I have to say that in all of 2006 it was the only movie I found worthy of watching twice. Frankly, that is kind of sad. What has happened to these great film directors? These great actors? These great scripts? I am getting sidetracked again. Back to the film. I called my brother Drew when I saw this film and told him how much I loved it. I love the part where Martin Sheen, well, I won't go into to it, but it was brill.

Let's talk for a min 'bout Jack Nicholson. I love him. I really do. I would do anything for him. He is one of, if not THE greatest actor(s) of our time. Did you catch his hair in this? I could watch him for an eternity. I spoke to guy who said a friend of his was an extra in this movie and that Jack was really nice to everyone. Jack Nicholson I ADORE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!!

Well, that's all the time we have. If you have not seen this film do. And if you have, watch it again!!

Ciao,
