GONZO: THE LIFE AND WORK OF DR. HUNTER S. THOMPSON
- Mitzi J. Johnson
Howdy, all! I just got back from vacay. Thanks to my boss for giving me the time off, however it was not a PAID VACAY!!! So, I have a tad bit of a resentment 'bout that, but I am grateful for my job, so I forgive and hope that next year he will find it is his best interest to send me to HAWAII with all expenses paid. I am quite tan. Who doesn't love having a tan in the height of winter? All the pale people stare at you with envy. And this is for my dermatologist: I did wear sunscreen. Sooo, this next film is a documentary. Yes, I know I'm smart.

I saw FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, starring JOHNNY D. and BENICIO, along with everyone else. I loved it, along with everyone else. Sadly, that is all I ever knew 'bout the fascinating person that was HUNTER S. THOMPSON. JOHNNY D. narrates and looks fab as per usual. There are also a lot of scenes from his performance of the famous man. I thought this doc was fantastic. I was impressed by all the people he knew and who knew him. He hung with JIMMY CARTER. I didn't know he was a journalist and that he was very into politics. I loved the artist who did tons of strange and revealing drawings of him over his lifetime. I think what really worked 'bout this film is that there was a great mix of interviews, real footage of him either filmed by himself or others and lots of historical stuff thrown in, along with movie clips. I think there is a book this was based on, but am not sure. Also, the soundtrack is really great. Of course, JOHNNY DEPP is in this, so really, need I say more. I urge you to look beyond Johnny and see a worthy tribute to a wildly fascinating fella.
Toodles,
Mrs. Johnny Depp
