THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST
- Mitzi J. Johnson

Welcome back to the fourth and final installment of MITZI'S ODE TO THE END OF SUMMER. Tres exciting, isn't it? Things are good on my end. I am still really into eating WATERMELON. I honestly, can't stop eating it. It is one of the greatest creations EVER!!!!! Hardly any calories, no FAT, and sweet, sweet, sweet! There is a great drink if you wanna try it, it is called THE PINK GODDESS. You just put a few big hunks of watermelon in a blender. Blend and drink. It is DUH-VINE, darlings, DUH-VINE!! K, so movin' right along to the next film. I do so love to travel in the summer, so, I thought of this oldie but goodie.

Well, I just loved this film. I did not see it when it came out, but I did watch it a few years ago and I really didn't get into it. I guess I just hadn't had the life experience, yet to fully comprehend it or to understand it's subtle humor. So, it's 'bout a travel writer played by WILLIAM HURT(BIG CHILL), who is dealing with the loss of his son who was murdered. His wife KATHLEEN TURNER(ROMANCING THE STONE) is trying to cope in her own way and wants to separate. He meets a quirky dog trainer played by GEENA DAVIS(THELMA AND LOUISE) and well, the rest is for you to watch. MS. DAVIS did win an ACADEMY AWARD for her performance, so that in itself is a reason to watch. If you need more convincing, well, the acting is brill, the story good and a bit eccentric. The humor is subtle and the camera work languid. A young and very watchable BILL PULLMAN is in this and his performance is quite refreshing. It is just one of those really good movies of the 8o's to watch and if you haven't had the chance to see it, I must strongly urge you to do so ASAP!! So, in closing I just wanna say HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER, FOLKS!

Ciao,

Mitzi
